  Event / Notes

Schools will earn points for each team entered in the event. The points will be awarded based on the final results list.

The more teams your school entered the greater the chance of winning the Elementary, Middle and High School Challenge Cup. The Cup will be awarded on a yearly basis to the school with the highest number of points. The Cup will be returned to TRIO Sport Events the following year to be defended or passed on to the next years' winning school.

The individual event participants (all three events done alone) will not contribute to the School Challenge points total. They will be placed and scored in their individual age category.

For Points System table click here

Each team member must sign the waiver form (Parent / Guardian for athletes under 19 yrs of age).

The teacher or parent must sign your team's Registration Form; this will be considered as confirmation that your team represents your school and that minimum two of the team participants are from the same school.

This is a Relay Team event with three or two team participants.  Each person on your team does one leg of the race (swim, bike, run) or in the event where you only have two team members one person will need to do two legs of the race (typically one person swims and runs and one person bikes).

Note: At minimum two team participants must be from the same school to qualify this team for the School Challenge event.

Relay and Individual option

If the Relay Team member would like to do the race as individual (all three legs of the race alone) participant - it is possible.

Here are the details how to do it:

  • The person doing both events (individual and relay) would have to be the swimmer for the team and then continue the race as single participant;                                                                                                                                                                                                                IMPORTANT:
  • The person doing both events (individual and relay) has to be the same age as the individual category that swims the same distance as the Relay she/he will swim for.   The chart below shows the details regarding an age requirements:                                                                         - Elementary School Challenge Relay swims 100 m (see Distances / Start Times above); the swimmer for the Relay who also wants to do the individual race needs to be 10 years old or younger since 100 m is swam by the 7-10 yrs individual category;                                             - Middle School Challenge Relay swims 200 m (see Distances / Start Times above); the swimmer for the Relay who also wants to do the individual race needs to be 13 years old or younger since 200 m is swam by the 11-13 yrs individual category;                                               - High School Challenge Relay swims 300 m (see Distances / Start Times above); the swimmer for the Relay who also wants to do the individual race needs to be 16 years old or younger since 300 m is swam by the 14-16 yrs individual category; If the swimmer is 17 yrs or older she/he will need to register in the Adult Short Course event - details here
